Should you buy the Asus TUF F17? Is it good for gaming?

PROS -

Upgradable RAM and Storage

Affordable price

Connectivity

CONS -

Thick and heavy(2.6kg)

Mediocre battery life

Cheap plastic design

Design and Ports -

The Asus TUF F17's design isn't very impressive. It has a very cheap looking plastic chassis. The TUF F17 boasts a large array of ports - 1 x 3.5mm Audio Jack, 2 x HDMI 2.0b, 3 x USB Gen 1 Type - A, 1 x USB Gen 2 Type - C, 1x LAN Port. The main disadvantage of the laptop being its weight(2.6kg). It's quite hefty and not very easy to carry around. After ling sessions of use, the F17 heats up quite a bit, as you might expect, with a gaming laptop.

Screen -

The TUF F17's 1080p, 144hz screen won't win any awards, but is certainly sufficient for general use and gaming.

Keyboard and Trackpad -

The F17's keyboard feels better than other mid-range gaming laptops, in addition to this, Asus have added a numeric keypad and backlighting. The trackpad is smooth and responsive, while the buttons below it have average build quality that makes them feel flimsy.

Battery -

This is probably where the TUF F17 is the weakest. With general use, you can expect about 3.5 hours of battery life, sometimes even lesser. With this laptop, its better to keep it plugged in when in use.

Performance -

Performance, arguably the most important thing we all look for in a gaming laptop. The Asus TUF F17 offers very good performance for a variety of games. When playing demanding games, the F17 may encounter some lag or performance related issues. For the most part, it runs almost all games on a consistent frame rate. With some tweaking, this laptop can definitely be more than sufficient for everyday gaming.
