- "Breaking Down the Thrilling Action: Australian Grand Prix Weekend Recap"
Carlos Sainz's astonishing, brilliant and perfectly executed race win, how did it come about? The third race of the 2024 Formula 1 season produced an unexpected winner, Carlos Sainz. Since the first practice session, Red Bull and Max Verstappen looked, as usual, incredibly competitive and quite comfortably ahead of the rest of the pack; although Ferrari seemed to have brought with them an car; faster than the rest of the field, to the streets of Melbourne. During qualifying, Verstappen secured Pole Position by around 3 tenths of a second. credit : bhat.tech (Instagram) Verstappen amazingly, went 28km/h faster than Sainz in turn 22, which is where Verstappen gained most of his time. Up until turn 10, Carlos was more or less matching Max Verstappen in laptime. Carlos was around 0.350 seconds when exiting turn 10. At the start the race, the grid got away well, with Verstappen leading the pack. 4 laps later, Max Verstappen's rear right brake started smoking, causing him to have to return to the pits and retire the car; ending his 43 race-completing streak. Expectedly, the Dutchman wasn't too pleased with the incident. For the most part; after the inchident, Carlos's didn't face much competition. The next major incident was the failure of Lewis Hamilton's engine, marking his worst ever start to the season, as he now stands 10th in the championship, with just 8 points to his name. It definitely wasn't sunshine and rainbows for the German team, as on the last lap, while chasing Alonso for sixth place, caught out by the Spaniard's "erratic" driving, George Russell found himself into the barriers. Other than the major headlines of the weekend; Sainz winning, Sainz forgetting to sing smooth operator and Max, Lewis and George crashing, some other drivers secured a good result - -Yuki Tsunoda managed to finish 7th, scoring him and RB 6 points for their championship campaign. -Both Haas drivers finished 9th (Hulkenburg) and 10th (Kevin Magnussen), scoring the team 3 championship points. Daniel Ricciardo was one of the main disappointments of the race, finishing (compared to his teammate), a lowly 12th, failing to score points in every race of the 2024 season Credit: Formula1.com In terms of the standings after the Australian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen leads by 4 points over Charles Leclerc. Credit: BBC Sport After a long few years, Max Verstappen isn't leading the pack (in terms of driver standings) by a large margin. The 4th race of the season, Suzuka, in Japan is a happy hunting ground for Max, leading most to think that Max would dominate the race, unless of course Ferrari and either of it's drivers put up a challenge.
- Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023: A Review of the F1 weekend on the Strip
Introduction When the race calendar for the 2023 Formula 1 season was announced, it included a new circuit, a street circuit - in Las Vegas. Interestingly, Formula 1 had previously held races in Vegas, with the city serving as a host in the 1981 and 1982 Formula 1 seasons. Formula 1 had invested millions of dollars into this race, making it the spectacle it was meant to be. Coming into the race weekend, there were a lot of concerns about the Grand Prix, most notably that of cold temperatures - the drivers would have to race in 4C. As the weekend went on, heating the tires seemed to be a major problem for the drivers. Free Practice The problems started during Free Practice 1 - 9 minutes into the session, Carlos Sainz had run over a drain cover which wasn't properly secured, This caused his chassis to be heavily damaged - leading to him not being able to take part in FP2. It also served as the main controversy during the weekend. After the incident, the marshals spent a few hours securing the drain holes. Due to this, FP2 was delayed to 2:30 in the morning - the spectators were then asked to leave the track and were given 200$ gift vouchers(for the F1 merchandise store). Qualifying Once the incidents in the free practice were cleared up, qualifying for the Grand Prix took place around midnight, starting with the Mclarens going out in Q1, Hamilton and Perez out in Q2 and ending with Charles Leclerc taking his 22nd pole position, followed by Verstappen and George Russell. The Williams of Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant taking control of the third row, was the surprise of qualifying. The Race Verstappen got an amazing start, finding himself alongside the pole-sitter, Charles Leclerc, at turn 1. As he tried to pass Leclerc for the lead, Verstappen ended up pushing Charles put of the track, for which he was given a 5-second time penalty. At the back of the field, Fernando Alonso had no grip into turn 1 and spun out, getting hit by Valtteri Bottas who was hit by Sergio Perez. Behind them, Carlos Sainz understeered into Lewis Hamilton into turn 1. All this led to loose debris on the track, for which a safety car was called. Credit : Kym Illman Credit : Kym Illman Lando Norris was looking to a good points finish after starting from the back of the grid. As he went through turn 12, Lando lost control of the rear of his MCL60. This led to another crash, calling for a safety car(Lando Norris was taken to the hospital, it was confirmed that he did not suffer major injuries from his accident at turn 12). Once the safety car was in the pits, Max Verstappen was given a 5-second time penalty for his incident in turn 1 with Charles Leclerc. At lap 16, Leclerc managed to use DRS to pass Versatppen into turn 14. After the first round of pitstops, Verstappen found himself behind Russell, poised to pass him into turn 12. Not seeing him, George Russell turned in, crashing into the Red Bull of Verstappen. Verstappen's right front endplate was damaged, so was Russell's left front wing. Following this incident, the stewards called for another safety car, during which race leader Sergio Perez pitted for the hard compound tires. Once Russell was given a 5-second penalty for the incident, the race restarted. On lap 32, at turn 14, Sergio Perez overtook race leader Charles Leclerc - but was unable to pull over a second ahead of Leclerc. Three laps later, the Monegasque overtook Perz for the lead of the race. As the fight for the lead continued, Verstappen has taken p3, Once he overtook his teammate, he blasted down the strip to claim the lead of the race, on lap 37. At the end of the race, Leclerc made a surprising lunge into turn 14, overtaking Perez for second place. The race ended with Oscar Piastri taking the last points-paying place. - Asus TUF Gaming F17 - Review
Should you buy the Asus TUF F17? Is it good for gaming? PROS - Upgradable RAM and Storage Affordable price Connectivity CONS - Thick and heavy(2.6kg) Mediocre battery life Cheap plastic design Design and Ports - The Asus TUF F17's design isn't very impressive. It has a very cheap looking plastic chassis. The TUF F17 boasts a large array of ports - 1 x 3.5mm Audio Jack, 2 x HDMI 2.0b, 3 x USB Gen 1 Type - A, 1 x USB Gen 2 Type - C, 1x LAN Port. The main disadvantage of the laptop being its weight(2.6kg). It's quite hefty and not very easy to carry around. After ling sessions of use, the F17 heats up quite a bit, as you might expect, with a gaming laptop. Screen - The TUF F17's 1080p, 144hz screen won't win any awards, but is certainly sufficient for general use and gaming. Keyboard and Trackpad - The F17's keyboard feels better than other mid-range gaming laptops, in addition to this, Asus have added a numeric keypad and backlighting. The trackpad is smooth and responsive, while the buttons below it have average build quality that makes them feel flimsy. Battery - This is probably where the TUF F17 is the weakest. With general use, you can expect about 3.5 hours of battery life, sometimes even lesser. With this laptop, its better to keep it plugged in when in use. Performance - Performance, arguably the most important thing we all look for in a gaming laptop. The Asus TUF F17 offers very good performance for a variety of games. When playing demanding games, the F17 may encounter some lag or performance related issues. For the most part, it runs almost all games on a consistent frame rate. With some tweaking, this laptop can definitely be more than sufficient for everyday gaming. Image courtesy: mysmartprice.com Should you buy it? If you're looking for a gaming laptop with good specs, a large screen and high refresh rate that doesn't empty your wallet, the Asus TUF F17 is the ay to go.
